Chad Valley usually placed its button on the bears right ear, however buttons have also been found on bears upper chest or upper back.

LABELS

1930's label was embroidered in red with the words HYGIENIC TOYS MADE IN ENGLAND BY CHAD VALLEY CO LTD
1938-53 Appointed the Royal Warrent labels text changes colour to blue. Foot labels displayed the Royal crest with the words THE CHAD VALLEY CO LTD (above crest ) BY APPOINTMENT (below crest) TOY MAKERS TO H.M. THE QUEEN

1953 Onward the wording on the foot label changed to read.

EYES

	1938-52 large reddish brown,glass eyes with black pupils. Sewn in on wire shanks.
	Late 1950's plastic eyes on wire shanks sewn in and finished off at the back of the neck like glass eyes.
	1960's Plastic safety eyes attached with washers.


NOSES

	Chad Valley 'coal' shaped nose. Thickly bound, vertically stiched oval nose with horizontally stiched edges. Often referred to as 'typical' Chad Valley nose.
	Chad Valley horizontal shaped nose, usually used on the 1930's 'Magna' series of bears. It is made up of several horizontal strands of cotton.
